Jonah has arrived!

Our newest grandchild arrived at 3:08 AM on Tuesday morning. Weighing in at 6 lbs 10 oz with a length of 19 1/2 inches long is Jonah Eugene Cole Layton. As you can see from the photos he is really cute! Jonah and mom Charity are healthy and doing fine. He was a few weeks early because he did not want to be born on the due date of May 18th (Mt St Helens eruption in 1980). Guess he wanted his birthday to be a big event not overshadowed by some volcano.

Spring is here???

Out whacky spring continues with rain, snow and hail all happening in a short period of time over a several day period of time. There is more snow in the mountains than we have seen in a number of years. No relief is in sight so we spent this past weekend mostly indoors.

We attended a birthday party for Alex and Bridget on Saturday. Then on Sunday we attended Logan Engkraf's first birthday party at Papa Pete's Pizza in Castle Rock. Logan is the son of Jennifer who works in the DEM office. Logan had a great time with his own personal birthday cake.

Grover is hoping that the weather improves enough so he can fly down to Provo, Utah to visit his sister Kirsten and see his newest great-niece Daphne McKay. May is the month Grover starts training for the Mt Hood climb which is on May 30th this year.

Goni spent this past week overseeing the WASL testing for her students. A difficult time during the school year but one that is required. She was ready for the weekend when it came even if the weather was crummy.

Vacation is over.....bah humbug

After a wonderful spring break week it was time to get back to the grind. Grover had lots to do at work including working an extra day on Saturday to help with the Prepare Fair. Goni said her kids at school had a tough time buckling down to work. So it was a "Chicken of Depression" week.At the Prepare Fair we had police, fire, Red Cross, Boy Scouts, and all sorts of first responders. There was a first aid class and fire extingusher demonstrations. It was lots of fun even if it was a better day for flying than for working.

On Sunday Grover took Caroline and Nicolina for an airplane ride. They flew from Woodland out to Ilwaco & Long Beach to look at the ocean. There were lots of clouds but they had a good time. Caroline posted some pictures and you can see them by going to her blog. There is a link on the right side of our blog down about halfway.
